Shots fired at parked SUV in Monterey
UPDATE 5/28/2016 11:25 a.m.:
Monterey Police Officers and Detectives with the Monterey Peninsula Regional Violence and Narcotics Team arrested a Monterey man on Friday afternoon and charged him with discharging a firearm, vandalism and violation of a court order.
32-year old Brendan Powers was taken into custody after detectives served a search warrant on Montsalas Drive where Powers lives, about 12 hours after officers received a call about a shooting. They found an unoccupied SUV had been vandalized and shot several times.
Also according to the press release, Powers was taken to the Monterey County Jail. His bail is set at $100,000. Police say the motive for the shooting is unknown.

Neighbors of a quiet Monterey neighborhood were awakened by the sound of multiple gunshots early Friday morning. The target was a parked SUV.
Police responded to a condominium complex on Montsalas Drive shortly after 3:00 am and found a GMC Denali riddled with shotgun pellets. Several of the vehicle’s windows had been shot out and three of tires had been slashed.
Monterey Police say the SUV was unoccupied and an investigation is underway.
