Tourism boost throughout San Benito County
Away from the hustle and bustle of the Monterey peninsula, it’s no doubt San Benito County is a hidden gem. Featuring historic communities like San Juan Bautista, with architecture dating back over 200 years.
“San Benito County is really, a best kept secret from this area, it’s lovely all the way around, but our little town of San Juan, is paradise to us,” said Laynee Reyna, resident and artist of San Juan Bautista.
A paradise the San Benito County Chamber of Commerce wants to share. The chamber launched a website to get tourism dollars flowing back into the area.
“We’ve had a lot of activity on it, we’re also on social media and we post everything going on within our community, all the activities,” said Juli Vieira, CEO of the Chamber of Commerce.
The efforts the boost tourism have been working, so much so that there’s not enough room for visitors. A Marriott Hotel is expected to be up in Hollister this fall, with more to follow to support the tourism that’s being attracted.
“You just have the very laid back vibe about the whole community, so it’s really a historic feeling, kind of like a step back in time,” said Vieira.
