21-year-old Salinas man shot and killed while working on a car
One man is dead after a shooting in the 300 block of Block Avenue.
Several people called 911 after hearing about 20 shots around 10:45 p.m.
When police arrived, they found a 21-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. He was pronounced dead on scene.
Police say the victim was working on a car when an unknown gunman approached and fired at him several times.
The suspect is described as Hispanic man wearing a light colored sweatshirt with the hood pulled up.
After the shooting, the suspect may have fled in a dark colored mid-sized SUV. It was last seen traveling westbound on Block Avenue toward Kip Drive.
This shooting is being investigated as gang related. This is the 13th homicide in the City of Salinas this year.
