Santa Cruz man convicted of stabbing elderly woman in the head

A Santa Cruz man pled guilty to second degree murder with a knife enhancement for stabbing an elderly woman in her Sand City home last April. She died the next day.

Scott White, 29, will be sentenced on March 2.

On April 13, 2015, Sand City Police responded to the home of Helen Morrow, 78. Police said White stabbed Ms. Morrow in the head while he was at her home playing video games with her grandchildren. Police believed he was on drugs, noting he was friends with Ms. Morrow’s caretakers who also did drugs.

Ms. Morrow was taken to the hospital, but was taken off life support the next day.

White will be sentenced to a mandatory fifteen years to life for murder, and one year for the use of a knife.
