Monterey Police encourage parents to talk to kids about strangers

The Monterey Police Department is encouraging parents to talk to their children about strangers.

On Sunday, January 24, a 13-year-old girl ran into a business after a 42-year-old man engaged in an inappropriate conversation with her in the 7-Eleven parking lot on North Fremont. The 13-year-old then called her parents for help.

On Tuesday, Monterey Police arrested the man — Minh Lee, 42, of Marina.

Le was charged with unlawful communication with a minor and annoying a minor.

Le has bailed out of jail. Police are encouraging parents to talk to their kids about these type of situations. They say the 13-year-old did the right thing in this case by not engaging, distancing herself, going to a safe place, and then immediately calling for help from a trusted adult.
