UPDATE: Hwy 1 at Big Sur back open after rock slide
UPDATE: 1/16/16 2:52pm: Highway 1 south of Big Sur is back open after an active rock slide Friday evening, according to Cal Trans officals.
ORIGINAL: A six mile stretch of Highway 1 in Big Sur is closed because of a mudslide, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Cal Trans says the mudslide is near Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park.
Crews are planning to assess the damage and begin clean up in the morning.
