UPDATE: Suspect search in Santa Cruz neighborhood called off
UPDATE: Santa Cruz Police said a search for suspect who assaulted an officer is now over.
Residents were asked to stay inside in the areas near Ocean View Avenue, Windsor Street and Branciforte Avenue for about 45 minutes.
Officers said the search was called off because they were unable to find the suspect.
ORIGINAL STORY: Residents living near Branciforte and Windsor in Santa Cruz are being asked to shelter in place because of police activity in the area.
Dispatchers said they cannot elaborate, but residents are being asked to avoid the area.
Police say they are searching for someone.
