Eleven unlicensed contractors cited in Hollister during sting operation
Eleven people from four different counties are facing fines for working as unlicensed contractors, according to state investigators.
The Contractors State License Board said it worked with the San Benito County District Attorney’s Office and the Hollister Police Department on a two-day sting operation in Hollister.
During the operation, investigators said they posed as homeowners with a list of projects to complete. The CSLB said it invited unlicensed contractors to stop in Hollister and give estimates.
Investigators said all eleven people turned in bids, most considerably higher than the legal limit of $500 for labor and/or materials. Those people were cited with a misdemeanor for contracting without a state license. Penalties include up to six months in jail and or up to $5,000 in fines. Some of those people were also cited for illegal advertising.
Those cited include: Benjamin Tapia Parra of Morgan Hill, Steve Bruce Cepin of Salinas, Luis Manuel Rossano-Sanchez of Gilroy, Silverio Juarez-Juarez of Seaside, Eric John Tanis of Morgan Hill, Brisio Angel Garcia of Hollister, David Cesar Vera Hernandez of Salinas, Javier Gonzales Jr. of Soledad, Cesar Perez Cazares of Gilroy, Pierre Savery Riche of Watsonville and Anselmo De Jesus Aniceto of Salinas.
