Gilroy mayor announces he’s resigning

Gilroy Mayor Don Gage announced he’s resigning on December 31, 2015.

Mayor Gage is a native of Gilroy and has served the city for decades.

On January 4, 2016, Gilroy City Council will appoint a member of the council to serve the remainder of the term, which ends in December 2016. This is in accordance with the City Charter, but will mean a vacancy on the council. It’s expected the council will appoint a new councilmember at their January 25 meeting.

Mayor Gage’s service:

1981-1991: Gilroy City Council

1991-1997: Gilroy Mayor

1997-2010: Santa Clara County Supervisor

2010-2012: Santa Clara Valley Water District

2011-Present: Gilroy Mayor
