UPDATE: Man in high speed chase out of Gilroy dies
UPDATE 11/18/2015 8:42 A.M.: The male driver involved in the chase has died. CHP officers reveal it appeared the driver was intentionally trying to ram other cars on the road before he lost control and crashed.
One officer suffered minor injuries when a patrol vehicle involved in the pursuit crashed into a road sign, according to the CHP.
ORIGINAL STORY:
An overnight high-speed car chase out of Gilroy ended in the Bay Area early Wednesday morning.
According to the San Jose California Highway Patrol, the chase started when the driver of a white Honda Accord did not pull over for police in Gilroy.
The driver, along with a passenger started on highway 101, but continued onto three other highways, traveling at speeds over 100 miles per hour.
The driver of the car eventually exited Highway 280 at the Winchester exit and collided with a patrol vehicle.
The CHP says a male driver was taken to Valley Medical Center with major injuries and the female passenger had minor injuries.
It is still unknown on why the driver evaded CHP.
