Keeping kids safe on the road, community event held in Monterey

The Monterey Fair and Event Center bustled with organizations to teach locals how to be safe on the road.

About 50 vendors filled up the grounds, giving free information and demonstrations.

Event goers learned about anything from disaster preparedness to car seat inspections.

The California Highway Patrol was there promoting and providing valuable tips to teens in an effort to crack down on fatal and distracted driving.

“On fatal collisions 75% of the time it’s usually the teens fault and teens only make up a small percentage of the total drivers,” said California Highway Patrol officer Oscar Loza, “But yet during a fatal collision their usually the ones responsible for a fatal collision.”

This was their 3rd annual Community Safety Saturday event hosted by the Capital Insurance Group.
