Santa Cruz man sues Claravale Farm over tainted raw milk
A Santa Cruz man is suing Claravale Farm Company claiming he became ill after drinking raw milk.
According to John Surbridge’s lawyer, Surbridge drank the milk in March. A few days later, Surbridge became so sick he had to go to the emergency room. He was in the hospital for three days.
Surbridge claims he was contacted by the Health Services Agency after he was released from the hospital and he was told that he tested positive for the food-borne illness Campylobacter.
After additional tests, Surbridge learned his illness stemmed from the raw milk he drank from Claravale Farm.
Surbridge’s lawsuit comes after the California Department of Public Health announced several people tested positive for the bacterial infection after drinking the San Benito County company’s milk.
