Good Samaritan re-unites with girl and great-grandma after rescue from sinking car in Marina
A girl and her great-grandmother are indebted to a good Samaritan. The two were sinking fast after their car went off a road in Marina and ended up in a pond.
I-coverage captured the moment Nathan Reynolds jumped in to save the 9-year old and her great-grandmother. NewsChannel 5 had the unbelievable opportunity to see the pair thank their hero for saving their lives.
“Nathan, I’m Olivia and this is Asilinn, who you saved. And we’re very very grateful,” said Olivia Schreiber.
In an emotional re-union, Schreiber thanked Reynolds for coming to their rescue Tuesday afternoon. Schreiber and Asilinn were running errands when Schreiber’s car veered off Reservation Road.
“I had, like, this rush and the next thing I knew I was in the pond,” Schreiber said.
She said suddenly, the lights went out.
“I guess I passed out and I woke up with Asilinn calling me and I realized I was in a body of water and I wasn’t sure why,” Schreiber said.
Reynolds said he was near the intersection and saw the terrifying scene unfold. Without thinking twice, he jumped into the pond, swam to the car and pulled them out, right as the car filled up with water.
“I don’t think there’s anything special about me. But I was just able to be there at the right time. And it was, it just worked out for the best,” Reynolds said.
Little did Reynolds know, they may not have been able to get out safely on their own.
“Neither one of us could swim, so he helped us both to shore,” Schreiber said.
Bravery and gratitude are what bring them together now, leaving a lasting memory none of them will forget.
“Thank you so much, you were very brave. Not many people would do what you did. I’m just forever grateful,” Schreiber said to Reynolds.
“I’m glad you guys are OK,” Reynolds said.
Schreiber said she’s talking with her doctor, to find out if she has any medical issues.
