Businesses on alert after ”French Laundry” wine thefts

As Bay Area police warn wine businesses about thieves targeting expensive bottles, Carmel Police say they are keeping a close eye on one wine theft investigation.

Police say they are checking in with detectives in light of the $300,000 wine theft at Napa Valley’s famous French Laundry restaurant.

That is because back in April, Bouchee’s Restaurant was burglarized and $15,000 worth of wine was taken.

Carmel’s L’Aubrege let Newschannel 5 inside of their cellar.

Employees there say they have heard about the French Laundry heist and are also paying attention to the investigation.

The Sardine Factory, which was voted as having the best wine in America, said security is a top priority and their rare wines are under lock and key.
