Argument leads to Salinas shooting
A heated argument in Salinas led to a man firing a gun.
Police say it all started on the 500 block of Williams Road, just after 5:00pm. Police say four people were arguing, two on each side. They say it got to a point where one suspect pulled out a gun and fired a couple of shots. One of the bullets hit an apartment, but nothing else.
Police say the two victims hopped into an SUV. An officer who was in the area heard the shots and was able to pull the car over with the victims inside.
Sergeant James Godwin of the Salinas Police said, “We had officers in the area… heard several shots fired. They ventured into this area here and observed what they believed to be the suspects running from the area. They gave chase and pursued them out of this area.”
Police called in additional officers and a California Highway Patrol helicopter to search for the two suspects, but to no avail.
One of the suspects was wearing a black shirt and the other had a camouflaged shirt. Police say they are in the age range of 14 to 17 years old.
They added, it’s too early to tell if it is gang related. No one was injured.
