Police investigate attempted murder in Salinas Sunday
Salinas police officers are investigating an attempted murder that happened Sunday night off South Sanborn Road.
Police say they responded to shots fired around 11:30 p.m.
Witnesses told police two groups were yelling at each other before they started shooting.
Police say the shooters fled the scene before officers arrived, but shell casings were found in the parking lot.
Later in the night, police say 19-year-old Eduardo Rios was dropped off at Natividad Medical Center with grazing gunshot wounds to his forehead and lower back.
Police say they later found the car that dropped Rios off at the hospital. It was occupied by 24-year-old Julian Fernandez, who was eventually arrested for an outstanding warrant. The car he was in reportedly had gunshot damage.
