Local school attempts to break guinness world record
Washington Union School District in Salinas attempted to build the world’s largest gingerbread village on Sunday. The Parent’s Club sponsored the fundraising event and according to the Guinness World Records website the record holder made 157 gingerbread houses. Unfortunately, the district fell well short of that.
“We were really thinking that the record would be within reach. Unfortunately, the chef who has the current record, has now broke his own record with 900-1,000 different houses,” said Dawn Southerd a parents club member.
The fundraiser collected 52 gingerbread houses and the kids had so much fun, they are going to try and break the record again next year.
