Fire evacuates apartment complex in Marina Sunday night
A Marina apartment complex was evacuated Sunday night after fire crews say a fire sparked in one of the apartments.
Firefighters say the structure fire happened off Del Monte Boulevard around 9:30 p.m.
The fire was quickly extinguished and contained to the apartment of origin. The apartment did sustain major heat and smoke damage. Several other apartments received smoke and water damage as well.
Fire crews say the apartment building will remain vacant until the maintenance personnel and city building inspector can assess the damage and get the electricity and gas restored.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
