Tree down on famed 18th hole of Pebble Beach golf course
The pristine Pebble Beach Golf Course is not immune to storm damage at one of the Cypress trees toppled over during the strong wind and heavy rain Thursday.
The 25-foot tree was in the fairway of the 18th hole about 10:00a.m.
Officials called play when the storm moved through for the rest of Thursday, play resumed Friday.
This isn’t the first time a tree has fallen on number 18, in 2001 a century old Monterey pine finally fell after disease and a lightening strike.
A year later a 67-foot Cypress weighing 465,000 pounds was brought in by 18-wheeler to replace it.
That tree is still standing, probably for many years to come.
