Salinas Police peacefully resolve woman barricaded in truck incident
Police just cleared a scene and re-opened a neighborhood on Lenny St. near Cleveland Ave. in north Salinas.
Police say officers were in the area investigating an attempted robbery in the area, while they were doing an area check, officers encountered a woman in a truck.
Officers say when the woman saw the officers she held a knife to her throat and claimed he had a gun.
NewsChannel 5 crews have heard police talking to the woman through a bullhorn.
Police evacuated some homes nearby and were not letting people back into their homes for nearly two hours.
Fire and ambulance were on scene as a precaution.
At the height of the incident, Salinas police had all but two patrol units on duty at this scene.
Police eventually were able to coax the woman out of the car and took her to the hospital for a mental health evaluation.
