Palma High School off lockdown, police end search for burglary suspect

Police ended their search for a burglary suspect in the area around Palma High School Thursday afternoon.

Palma, Notre Dame High School, and Washington Middle School were all on lock down at one point according to Salinas Police.

NewsChannel 5 was on scene as the principal told our crew that the high school has been on lock down since just before 10:00a.m.

Police were looking for a suspect who allegedly stole a bike early Thursday morning and was seen on the roof of someone’s house. Police believe the suspect was hiding in a home on W. Acacia St. Officers were able to recover a black shirt that is believed to belong to the suspect. K-9 dogs were also used in the search.

Officers believe the suspect is now wearing a black tank top and has a tattoo on his head.

Police are reminding people that as the holiday season comes around, home burglaries start to increase, so be extra cautious with keeping all doors locked and limiting the number of valuables in plain sight in your home.
