National Weather Service issues coastal hazard warning, in effect until 9 p.m.

The National Weather Service on Thursday issued a coastal hazard warning for much of the San Francisco Bay area.

According to the weather service, southwesterly swells will continue to produce strong rip currents and large shore break along southerly facing beaches through Thursday evening.

The warning pertains to coastal sections of Santa Cruz County, in particular Cowell/Main Beach and Twin Lakes Beach.
