Salinas man pleads no contest to 7 counts of child molestation
A 21-year-old Salinas plan has pleaded no contest to seven counts of child sex abuse, Monterey County prosecutors said.
Maurillo Gonzales was arrested for sexually abusing a child between 2012 and 2014 in Monterey and Santa Cruz counties. The girl was 10 and 11 years old at the time.
Jury selection was set to begin when Gonzales entered his plea.
Gonzales will be sentenced to 20 years in prison on Oct. 17 and will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
