More than 450 walkers to take part in Saturday’s Heart Walk in Monterey
More than 450 people are expected to take part in the Heart and Stroke Walk in Monterey County Saturday.
The annual event raises money for the American Heart and Stroke Association.
Each year, an estimated 1.2 million Americans will suffer a coronary attack, and another 700,000 will experience a stroke, according to the organization.
News Channel 5/KION’s own Dann Cianca will emcee this year’s walk, which begins at 10 a.m. at the Custom House Plaza in Monterey. The opening ceremony starts at 9:40 a.m. and a festival and lunch will be held after the walk.
Funds raised from the Heart & Stroke walk event will benefit local research, advocacy, outreach and education throughout the northern Central Coast.
