CalVet withdraws approval for parent company of Heald College in Salinas

The California Department of Veterans Affairs has withdrawn its approval of all institutions owned and operated in California by Corinthian Colleges, Inc.

That includes 23 Wyotech, Everest and Heald Colleges in the state — locally, Heald College operates in Salinas.

CalVet took action after Corinthian Colleges failed to comply fully with provisions of an earlier suspension issued by the California State Approving Agency for Veterans Education. The withdrawal precludes CCI schools from receiving Veterans’ GI Bill education benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Corinthian Colleges announced earlier this year that it plans to sell or close some of its school due to financial problems.
