Tuesday night training for volunteers to participate in San Lorenzo River survey

The Coastal Watershed Council is seeking volunteers to take part in a usership survey at the San Lorenzo Riverwalk in Santa Cruz and there’s an orientation session tonight, Tuesday, July 29.

Volunteers will be trained to count people enjoying the San Lorenzo Riverwalk and to learn how the community uses the park.

The Coastal Watershed Council, a founding member of the San Lorenzo River Alliance, is working with partners to help reconnect the community to the river,

The alliance hopes to “transform the community’s relationship with the San Lorenzo from one of apathy and disdain to one of respect, pride and admiration.”

The usership survey will inform efforts to increase community access, bring people to enjoy the river, and build a constituency to care for the San Lorenzo.

A free training sessions will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Coastal Watershed Council office, 345 Lake Ave., Suite F, Santa Cruz, CA 95062. To RSVP, email info@coastal-watershed.org or call Laurie Egan at 464-9200.
