Mt. Madonna fire is 100 percent contained
Cal-Fire crews from Santa Cruz and Santa Clara were battling a small fire near Mount Madonna in the Santa Cruz Mountains Friday afternoon, near the Santa Clara County line.
Cal-Fire said it burned about one acre and was 100 percent contained by late Friday night. Fire crews will continue putting out hot spots through early Saturday. The fire didn’t get out of control, but even if it did, Santa Clara fire said it has more than enough staffing in Northern California that it won’t affect the crews that are working on the massive and destructive fires down south.
The brush fire Friday broke out a little before 4 p.m. CALFIRE said no structures were damaged or even threatened and no injuries were reported. CALFIRE deployed 4 airtankers, 2 helicopters and 20 engines.
CALFIRE staffed its crews early this year to prepare for a busy fire season.
