Woman hit and killed by train in Salinas

Salinas Police said a Hispanicwoman in her 40s was hit and killed by a train near South Davis Road and West Market Street. Officers were called out around 6:15 p.m. on Saturday night.

Salinas officers said it appears thewoman may have intentionally caused the incident. However, representatives with Union Pacific said they have not received any information stating it may have been intentional.

The train was leaving the Salinas Amtrak station, according to officers. Train service is back open. Salinas PD said representatives from Union Pacific in Oaklandwill continue the investigation.
