Marina police seeking “armed and dangerous” suspect
Marina police are seeking a suspect they say ran from officers earlier this week.
On Friday afternoon, officers were dispatched to the area of Reindollar Avenue and Berney Drive for a report of two men fighting. Upon arriving, officers saw one male run away and get into a car. Officers tried to detain him, but he then took off on foot with police running after him.
Officers believed the suspect, identified as Cornell Calvin Whitmore Jr., ran into his residence on King Circle. A search warrant was obtained and while Whitmore wasn’t located, officers did find items pertaining to drug sales and manufacturing, as well as three firearms – including an AK-47 assault rifle.
Police are seeking the public’s help in locating Whitmore, who is described as a 24-year-old African-American man with short black hair and brown eyes, about 6 feet tall and 200 pounds. He’s been known to drive a silver Kia Optima with a California state license plate 4VAP868.
Whitmore should be considered armed and dangerous. If he’s seen, Marina police ask residents to call 911.
