Hollister police arrest woman for DUI after early-morning car chase
Hollister police arrested a 22-year-old woman early Sunday morning after they say she led them on a vehicle pursuit.
Just before 2 a.m. Sunday, Officer Rudy Rodriguez was on patrol near the intersection of East Street and Hawkins Street when he noticed a car go through the intersection at 40 miles per hour without stopping for the posted stop sign.
Officer Rodriguez attempted to make a traffic stop but the driver didn’t pull over, instead making a series of turns and maneuvers in an apparent attempt to get away from the officer. The driver narrowly missing striking several parked cars.
Eventually the driver led officers to State Route 25 at Park Street, where she turned northbound and reached speeds of up to 90 miles per hour. Rodriguez was joined in the pursuit by other Hollister police officers and a San Benito County Sheriff’s deputy.
The suspect vehicle eventually stopped just north of Santa Ana Road.
The driver, Patricia Caudillo, was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence and felony evading police. She was booked into San Benito County Jail.
