Salinas group marches on Capitol for victims’ rights

Tuesday a group from Salinas will march on the state Capitol to make their voices heard. All of them have lost loved ones. Their organization, ‘A Time for Grieving and Healing,’ has attended the march for the last five years and this year it has more than 50 people going to support the cause.

The purpose of the march on the Capitol is a political call to action. They want legislation for stricter punishments from the court and public safety to be a priority.

“My son lost his rights to live another day, the day somebody decided to pull that trigger. A lot of children lost their rights. Who is going to speak for them? Their voices cannot be heard from the grave, but our voices will be heard loud and clear for them. We do this for them,” said Debbie Aguilar, founder of ‘A Time for Grieving and Healing,’ and a mother who lost her 18-year-old-son several years ago to gun violence.
