Two convicted on gun charges in San Benito County
Two men were convicted last week on gun charges stemming from arrests made in Hollister in 2013, police said.
Gregory Larios, 30, pleaded guilty to selling drugs for the benefit of a street gang and was sentenced to 15 years in state prison. The conviction stemmed from an arrested on Feb. 15, 2013, during which Larios fled from an office near San Felipe Road and North Street. Larios discarded a knife and a loaded gun during the chase. Narcotics, prescription drugs and evidence of participation is an organized criminal street gang were found in his vehicle.
Randy Casarez, 22, pleaded guilty to being a gang member in possession of a loaded handgun. He was sentenced in San Benito County Superior Court to five years in prison.
His conviction stemmed from an arrest on Dec. 30, when officers were dispatched to a reported disturbance on the 400 block of Tres Pinos Road. Casarez was found there with a loaded gun in the car he was driving.
