Charges considered in Brentwood middle school sexting case

Prosecutors are considering criminal charges against a middle-school boy who police say forced a girl into sexual acts by threatening her with explicit photos of her on his cellphone.

The Contra Costa Times reports that Brentwood police were called to Adams Middle School this week to investigate reports that students were exchanging photos of themselves in various stages of undress.

Police say students between the ages of 12 and 14 from four area schools used electronic devices to share the pictures, and that one boy used one photo to force a girl to perform sex acts.

Students found with the pictures have been disciplined by the school administration.

Meanwhile, the Contra Costa County district attorney is deciding whether to file criminal charges against any of the students.
