Man’s Dog Found Dead in Stolen SUV

A Bay area man claims his SUV was stolen from Gilroy and was later found in San Jose with his dead dog inside.

Michael McVey says he left his dog Kayco inside the SUV, while he went in to buy food. When he came out, the SUV and dog were gone.

When police found the car, four days later, they found Kayco’s body in the back.

The parking lot is covered with cameras and there were a dozen witnesses that could have seen the theft.

“It really is hard to imagine having it end that way,” said McVey. “It’s not supposed to end that way.”

As of Tuesday afternoon, Gilroy Police had identified at least 2 persons of interest. a The first is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’6″-5’8″, average build and had a goatee. The other man was unknown race, according to Gilroy Police. He was about 6′-6’2″, with a thin build and had a goatee.

Anyone with information is urged to call police so they can find the culprit.
