CHP Closes Part of Highway 17 After Car Catches Fire

The California Highway Patrol says there is major traffic back-up on Highway 17 and part of the highway is shutdown.

According to the CHP website, a car hit the median, flipped over, and then caught on fire around 1:30 p.m. Thursday. The accident happened just south of the Redwood Estates and traffic is backed-up into Santa Cruz county, said CHP.

CHP has closed all lanes of northbound Highway 17 and one lane of southbound traffic.
