Man Shot While Riding Bike in Watsonville

A man was shot from behind while riding his bicycle in Watsonville on Saturday night.

The shooting occurred just before 7 p.m. near Fifth and Rodriguez streets.

Watsonville police said a shooter in a gray or silver sedan pulled up to the 28-year-old victim, shot him in his lower back and then drove off.

The victim was flown to a Bay Area trauma center. Police have not released his condition.

Police believe the shooting is gang-related.
