Santa Cruz County reports two new COVID-19 deaths, bringing total to 8
SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, Calif. (KION) The Santa Cruz County Health Services Agency reports two more COVID-19 related deaths over the past week.
These are the third and fourth deaths this month, bringing the total number to 8.
According to the health services agency, the people who died were a man in his early 60's and a woman in her late 90's, and both had underlying health conditions.
The woman was hospitalized for two weeks before her death, but the health services agency said the man tested positive after his death. The county said he did not get medical care.
The county said the Families First Coronavirus Response Act allows for the COVID Presumptive Eligibility program, which gives access to testing, services, treatment, hospitalization and medically necessary care at no cost. It applies to people who are uninsured and to people with health insurance with plans that do not cover COVID-19 testing and treatment.
