MONTEREY, Calif. (KION) The City of Monterey said it is hoping to help businesses facing financial trouble due to the COVID-19 pandemic by offering an opportunity to expand outdoor services.

The City is offering no-cost temporary permits that allow retailers and restaurants to move products and services to the sidewalk in front of their business, as long as it does not block streets or parking spaces.

Businesses will be required to apply for the permit and provide a "to scale" drawing of the layout to make sure it is ADA compliant.

“We are all in this together, and together we will make it through this double disaster of the pandemic and devastating economic consequences,” said City Manager Hans Uslar.

Business owners can find the permit application here.
