GREENFIELD, Calif. (KION) The Greenfield City Council is set to vote on a Proclamation of Local Emergency in response to the coronavirus pandemic at an emergency meeting Monday evening.

The city is urging residents to stay calm because there are currently no reported cases in Monterey County, but said the potential spread of the virus poses a potentially serious risk to public health.

City officials said they are taking proactive actions to protect the community's health, many of which have already been implemented.

Monday afternoon, three other South County cities declared local emergencies, and Monterey County declared a local emergency earlier in the month.
