High school football player gets big surprise when Marine brother runs onto field

    LITTLETON, Massachusetts (WCVB) — A Littleton High School football player got the surprise of her life before Friday’s game when her older brother, who serves in the Marines in Arizona, walked onto the field.

Jenna Kivlin, 18 plays left guard on the offensive line, opening up lanes for her teammates, and as a run-stopping nose tackle on the defensive line.

Before the game, her brother Sgt. Jake Kivlin, ran out onto the field and hugged his little sister, as crowds cheered and clapped.

Kivlin said she knew that she was ready for the gridiron starting when she was 8 years old.

“For people that say she’s a girl that plays football, I just think of her as one of my teammates,” said senior running back Brian Marrese. “She’s almost just like one of the guys. She fits in so well. No one treats her like she’s a girl. Everyone will hit her as hard as they can every play and she hits back, so it’s great having her on the team.”

“We try to just leave it out of our minds that she’s a girl. She’s just another teammate,” said senior quarterback Brady Decoste.

“I like having to fight through things,” Jenna Kivlin said. “I’ve always liked proving people wrong, I guess.”
