ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp is dismissing efforts by his fellow Republicans to punish Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis for prosecuting Donald Trump as “political theater.” The GOP governor offered his most forceful comments on the investigation Thursday in response to House Republicans’ planned probe of Willis and Trump’s relentless criticism of her. It’s a reflection of the divide that remains between Kemp and other Republicans following the governor’s refusal to endorse Trump’s false claims about the 2020 election. Kemp says, “As long as I’m governor, we’re going to follow the law and the Constitution, regardless of who it helps or harms politically.”
