Four juveniles arrested in Salinas Seville Street murder

SALINAS, Calif. (KION-TV)- UPDATE ON FEB. 1, 2023 AT 12:25 p.m.- On Wednesday afternoon, Salinas Police announced they arrested four juvenile suspects in connection with the Seville Street murder that took place last November.

Salinas Police's investigation bureau, Violence Suppression Task Force, SWAT, and assistance from Monterey County Sheriff's Office served four search warrants in the City of Salinas and one search warrant just outside of Salinas.

Officers said the juvenile suspects were arrested and booked into the Monterey County Juvenile Hall for the murder of Andrew Parker and the attempted murder of the second victim.

Police said witness interviews and surveillance camera footage in the neighborhood helped them identify the four suspects. Detectives said the suspects range from the ages 15 to 17 years old. Detectives said that the four suspects were attempting to rob the victims when the shooting occurred.

Detectives said 19-year-old Andrew Parker and the 16-year-old male victim were trying to drive away when a crash occurred. Police said all four suspects were gang affiliated but the victims were not.

The motive behind the armed robbery is still being investigated.

Detectives say that it remains an active investigation and are continuing with additional follow-up information. They also said that there are no outstanding suspects and there is no additional risk to the community.

Seaside Sergeant's son identified as victim of Salinas Seville Street murder

UPDATE Dec. 16, 2022, at 5:04 p.m.- Salinas Police have identified the 19-year-old shot and killed on November 14 on the 1600 Block of Seville Street. Seaside Police said he is the son of one of their sergeants.

Andrew Parker was found with multiple gunshot wounds at 7:30 p.m. He was taken to the hospital but died of his wounds, said Salinas Police. A 16-year-old male was also shot, but he survived his injuries.

Parker is the son of an officer with the Seaside Police Department. We asked Seaside Police and they confirmed Parker is the son of one of their sergeants.

Salinas Police are still looking for two suspected males who approached the victims while they were sitting in a car. Police say this is an active investigation, and they are not ready to release more information at this time.

ORIGINAL STORY

Salinas Police Department said two teens were found on the 1600 block of Seville Street near Northgate Park with gunshot wounds Monday night.

Police responded at 7:30 p.m. and found a 19-year-old male with gunshot wounds. Officers and firefighters attempted life-saving measures, and he was taken to the hospital but died of his wounds, said police.

A second male victim, who was 16 years old, was found with a single gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay, according to police.

The victims were in a parked car when two males approached them. After a brief interaction, shots were fired that hit the two victims, said police.

The suspects were described as males in dark clothing. They were last seen running westbound through Northgate Park.

The identities of the victims are being withheld pending notification of families.
