Car crash sparks brush fire in South San Jose

UPDATE 8/15/2019 3:15 p.m. The Bayliss burning in South San Jose has grown to at least 75 acres as of 2 p.m.

Cal Fire said forward progress has been halted. The fire was started when a car crashed into a power pole.

PREVIOUS STORY: A car crashed into a power pole in South San Jose Thursday afternoon, sparking a brush fire.

The 50 acre fire is burning in the area around Santa Teresa Boulevard and Bailey Avenue. Cal Fire said the fire is on both sides of Santa Teresa with power lines down.

There is no word on any injuries resulting from the car crash.
