Park rangers association: Lake Nacimiento not affected by toxic algae blooms
The Monterey County Park Rangers Association issued a statement in response to a list circulating on social media about California lakes with toxic algae blooms.
The association said Lake Nacimiento is on that list and that it is incorrect. The association said it works with the state water board and other agencies to maintain the water quality.
The person who posted the statement said they were personally out with a state biologist early this month and no toxic algae was found.
The statement said that rangers are on the lake as much as possible and will notify the public if they suspect the water is not healthy to people or pets.
It also said all lakes have algae and most of it is non-toxic.
