California DMV closing all offices for Real ID training next month
All California Department of Motor Vehicles offices will be closed for a half-day next month to train workers on the federal Real ID program.
The offices will be closed on July 24 until 1 p.m.
Real ID cards will be required to board planes or enter federal facilities without using a passport by October 2020 nationwide.
Since the program launched last year, California has struggled to implement it. The DMV has asked around 3.5 million Californians who applied for Real ID cards to submit a second proof of address because the initial system did not meet federal guidelines.
