Gang member arrested for street racing in Salinas
A Hollister man was arrested for his involvement in a big street race in Salinas.
Officers responded to several calls for the street racing on Dec. 7.
According to Salinas police, 31-year-old Roberto Ceja Rangel led officers on a high speed chase in his BMW on Highway 101.
“The pursuit ended when it became unsafe,” said SPD.
The Violence Suppression Task Force followed up on the case and was able to identify Rangel as the driver of the BMW. Police said Rangel is a known gang member.
On Dec. 21 Task Force officers located the BMW at a body shop in Seaside.
Rangel was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail. He is an unlicensed driver and the BMW was impounded for 30 days.
