Dump truck overturns in two car crash near Aromas

A two car accident caused a dump truck trailer to overturn in Monterey County causing heavy traffic delays.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident involving a white GMC and a big rig happened on San Juan Road at Carpenteria around 7:15 a.m. Wednesday.

CHP told KION the driver of the GMC truck didn’t see the semi as it turned onto San Juan Rd and t-boned it. The semi hit a tree then fell on it’s side.

A life flight helicopter was requested but the extent of the injuries are unclear at this time.

CHP officers are directing traffic in the area but drivers are advised to talk an alternate route.

The crash site is expected to be cleared within an hour.
