Elderly couple catch neighbor breaking into Royal Oaks home

An elderly couple from Royal Oaks came home only to find their neighbor breaking in.

Deputies with the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglary alarm at a home on Miller Road, Monday morning.

“Upon arriving they found the elderly homeowners present and a bedroom window smashed out,” said the sheriff’s office.

The homeowners caught their neighbor, Gary Gooden coming out of their window.

Gooden was taken into custody for burglary and outstanding arrest warrants. He was booked into Monterey County Jail.
