Salinas Police investigating attempted homicide

The Salinas Police Department is investigating an attempted homicide, in which a man was shot Monday night in the area of Iris and Heather Drive.

Officers responded to the scene around 7 p.m. and found a 24 year-old man lying near the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

He was transported to an area hospital where he is expected to survive.

Police believe he was standing near a parked vehicle when a second vehicle drove up and seveal people jumped out and shot at the victim multiple times.

The suspects then fled the scene.
