Sports champions compete in Chevron Shoot-Out

The top golfers in the world matched up with some of the best athletes in all of sports for a bit of friendly competition with some unique obstacles at the Chevron Shoot-out.

“We have a lot of fun when we play golf. Try to do the same this week and have a good time. That’s what playing golf is all about,” said the No.1 world golfer Dustin Johnson.

Maybe the most popular of the bunch Tuesday was Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander. It turns out the crowd of Giants fans cheers on the ace who knocked off the Los Angeles dodgers in the World Series.

“I’ve been celebrated both times. I’ve been out here. The last time, we lost to the giants in the World Series so everyone was happy about that and now we beat the Dodgers. It’s a win/win,” said World Series Champion Justin Verlander.

It’s roughly a week until the start of spring training and before stepping on the bump, Verlander bumped his way around the putting green.

“You start the grind for almost 8 months every day. To take this time and get away for a minute, just play golf with your friends, it’s something I’ll always remember.”

Your Chevron Shoot-out champion Tuesday, California’s very own Aaron Rodgers.

“I love Northern California. I spent a lot of years of my life here. I have friends still in the Bay Area. Moments like this, keep coming back every year,” said Aaron Rodgers.

$32,000 to their charities and $100,000 between all five teams.
